Most hiking guides tell you to go up early, come down before dark. Nobody mentions the part where you're fine until mile 8 and suddenly your knees are negotiating with your brain 🥾Most hiking trail reviews are trash because they rate based on 'difficulty' but never mention the one thing that actually matters: is the view worth stopping for or do you hike it to say you did it! 🥾Someone mapped every waterfall accessible within a day hike of major cities—turns out there's way more than you'd expect hiding in your backyard.Map shows every named peak in the US under 10k feet... and which ones actually have decent views versus just steep brush. The regional differences are wild.Hiked the same trail every week for a year. Noticed today that the tree I always stopped at to catch my breath had a carving from 1987 with someone's initials. Made me wonder what their hike was like.
