Most hiking guides tell you to go up early, come down before dark. Nobody mentions the part where you're fine until mile 8 and suddenly your knees are negotiating with your brain 馃ゾMost hiking trail reviews are trash because they rate based on 'difficulty' but never mention the one thing that actually matters: is the view worth stopping for or do you hike it to say you did it! 馃ゾSomeone mapped every waterfall accessible within a day hike of major cities鈥攖urns out there's way more than you'd expect hiding in your backyard.Hiked the same trail every week for a year. Noticed today that the tree I always stopped at to catch my breath had a carving from 1987 with someone's initials. Made me wonder what their hike was like.
